The ancients of Rainbow Valley, who populated it before our classic main characters, are a touchy subject. Apparently, there is in-universe debate over the myths and realities of these ancient peoples.

Just like any mythical origin story, you need two original humans. In Rainbow Valley, these were Lewis and Mary. However, the actual comic/storybook that is put into the comics has their names be Lily and Mark. One starts with an L and the other "Mar", but obviously the genders are switched. The truth might be somewhere in the middle. An interesting thing to consider is that "Lily", the first woman, has a similar name to "Lilith", the first woman of ancient Jewish texts who famously becomes a demon. This IS information I would have known when creating the characters, so it's something to consider.

The two might have been born on the same day, since the written account of the Poop Age story says they were tunneling through poop until "their 17th birthday".

In the comic/storybook "The Poop Age", the story of the first humans encountering the first monster is laid out. It is also laid out in the entry "The Past" in the earliest SP Encyclopedia.

"In the very beginning, the only things that lived in Rainbow Valley were plants, Lewis, Mary, harmless animals, and 1 monster.

This monster had a tree growing out of his belly. The tree produced fruit, which fell into his mouth. He pooped out some whatsit later on. This kept on going on.

Lewis and Mary lived in a cave for a couple of days. Then, one day, the entrance ways blocked out with diara. Lewis and Mary immediately remembered the monster!

They tunneled through the whatsit for years and years. On their 17th birthday, The Monster managed to wake up. He ate (!) all the diaria."

Besides the human name discrepancies, there is a difference in the involvement of the humans. The comic states that they simply stayed in the cave until the monster eats the poop, while the assumably original written story clearly states that they tunneled through the poop until their 17th birthday. If they are tunneling through the poop, and then the monster wakes up to eat it, how did they escape being eaten? Many questions arise from the original account. The latter is cleaner, although is does suggest a question of how the humans stopped the poop from flooding into the cave. We very well may never know.

"In Rainbow Valley, there is a certain lake that's pretty wierd. It's the Milk Lake, a lake made of milk.

In theory, A milk golem had a fight with a giant cow. The both died, and milk splattered everywhere.

In reality, Lewis's oldest son, Mark, hunted the Giant Cow, Queen Bessie I. Milk splattered everywhere. That's how Mark died, too, he drowned. Some people claim they found Mark's armor, chariot, weapons, and bones, along with his horse's.

Really, It was Charlie Brown XIV, who hunted Razorfish for fun."

"There's a special kind of caves in Rainbow Valley called Pie Caves. The Pie Caves are where the ancients stored their Pie. When enemis would attack their castles, the enemy would usually steal their pie, too."
